Home$tart Helps Design the Homeownership Dream for VisionBank Homebuyer

Homeownership is more than just a dream for Des Moines resident and first-time homebuyer, Katie.  

With guidance and support through the buying process from Mike Painovich, Vice President Mortgage and Consumer Lender at VisionBank, Katie was able to purchase a home she could afford using a $15,000 Home$tart® grant from FHLB Des Moines. 

“I love my new home and being a homeowner,” said Katie. “One of my favorite features is the updated kitchen where I’ve had so much fun trying new recipes and cooking more at home. It's been everything I hoped for, and I'm excited to continue making it my own.”

An interior designer, Katie was excited to digitally lay out her furniture and other items in the home before taking possession of it. Additionally, Katie is planning on making exterior updates with the added financial flexibility Home$tart provided. A local ice cream shop within walking distance has made it easy for Katie to get outside often and explore her new neighborhood.

For Painovich this was his second time working with Home$tart for a first-time homebuyer.

“Working with FHLB Des Moines and Katie was a seamless, rewarding experience that turned her dream of homeownership into a reality,” said Painovich. “Delivering her the keys was a true highlight.”

FHLB Des Moines members can access $15,000 grants through Home$tart for down payment and closing cost assistance for qualifying first-time homebuyers.
