Michael “Mike” Wilson is the president and chief executive officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. He has held that position since April 2016. Mike began his association with the Federal Home Loan Bank System in 1992.
Prior to his current role, Mike served as president of the Des Moines Bank following the merger with Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle in May 2015. Mike was president and chief executive officer of the Seattle Bank from 2012 through the merger, and, prior to that, an executive vice president and the chief business officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
Before joining the Des Moines Bank in 2006, Mike was a senior executive vice president and the chief operating officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, where he worked for 12 years. In addition, he served as the Boston Bank’s executive vice president for finance from 1997 to 1999 and senior vice president for planning and research from 1994 to 1997. Prior to his service at the Boston Bank, he was the director of the Office of Policy and Research at the Federal Housing Finance Board in Washington, D.C.
Mike serves on the board of the Office of Finance, the Federal Home Loan Bank System’s joint fiscal agent. He also is a board member of the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity.
Mike has an undergraduate degree in economics and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a M.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
