Building stronger communities doesn’t happen overnight. And, it doesn’t happen alone. At FHLB Des Moines, volunteering is part of our community-minded mission., giving new meaning to teamwork and building stronger communities. In 2020, our employees spent 1,250 hours reading in classrooms, hosting mock interviews, serving meals and organizing donations in shelters, mentoring youth and helping revitalize neighborhoods.
Sponsorships are just one of the ways we give back and create strategic connections with community partners around causes that align with our key focus areas of housing, financial literacy, education and quality of life improvements. Matching Gifts Program
Through our Matching Gifts Program, qualified employee gifts made to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations are matched by the company, doubling the impact made by our employees. In 2020, more than $17,000 in employee giving grew to $35,000 to benefit 54 area nonprofits.
In 2020, through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity, we pounded nails, brushed paint and invested more than $100,000 to reduce homelessness, restore neighborhoods and create home ownership opportunities.
We stand strong in our steadfast support of communities whether they’re thriving or if they’re hurting. That’s why we provide financial assistance during natural disasters or other emergencies.
