FHLB Des Moines Celebrates Building Community

The bank’s Des Moines office employees were recently given donation vouchers to put towards three Des Moines area non-profit organizations; Joppa, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity and YMCA of Greater Des Moines Supportive Housing Campus. All three have all shown a commitment to helping those in our community achieve safe and stable housing. Here is how the three organizations plan to use the donations;

  • "Joppa has helped 300 men, women and children get off the streets since 2008 and 90% of them remain in housing today. As a result of the generous support from organizations like Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Joppa will continue working to end homelessness through Outreach, Housing, Aftercare, Education and Advocacy."

  • “Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. This generous donation from Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines will support our efforts to serve 280 families in 2017 through homeownership, Rock the Block repairs, and financial education.”

  • “YMCA of Greater Des Moines Supportive Housing Campus is a community solution to help eliminate homelessness by providing hope, dignity, and support in the form of permanent supportive housing.  FHLBDM is making an impact in the lives of 140 residents that call the Y home. The donation will go towards the wraparound supportive services offered at the Y Supportive Housing including case management, rental assistance, food pantry supplies, care packages for new move-ins, and more.”

These donations are a display of FHLB Des Moines ongoing commitment to the community and those organizations helping to provide safe and stable housing.
