A Message from Kris Williams on Diversity and Inclusion
last updated on Monday, June 15, 2020 in Community News
People across our nation, especially those in the African American community, are hurting. Their lives matter, and we hurt with them. In recent days, we’ve seen people coming together and rallying alongside one another to listen, learn and oppose injustices. We’ve experienced the power of community.
As the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines President & CEO, I am personally dedicated to bringing about positive change. Diversity and inclusion are foundational pillars of the Bank’s culture. Ensuring that all voices, perspectives and experiences are heard and valued is incredibly important to me. I believe these differences strengthen our workplace and communities. Here there is no tolerance for racism, discrimination, prejudice, harassment or any other oppressive behavior. We stand for diversity, equity and inclusion.
At FHLB Des Moines, our commitment to inclusive change is demonstrated by continually working to increase the diversity of our workforce; having open and honest conversations with our employees; partnering with diverse broker dealers and making contracting opportunities available to minority, disabled and women-owned businesses.
Building strong communities is at the Bank’s very core. We each play a part in making communities stronger. No matter what role you play in your business or community, I hope you’ll join me in creating real and sustainable change.
Kris Williams
President & CEO
