Building strong communities doesn’t happen alone. At FHLB Des Moines, giving back is part of our community-minded mission, giving new meaning to teamwork and building stronger communities.

We give through sponsorships with community partners whose missions align with our key focus areas of housing, financial literacy, education and quality of life improvements.

We give through our Matching Gifts Program, which doubles your donation to nonprofits of your choice.

We give by pounding nails, brushing paint and investing more than $100,000 to reduce homelessness, restore neighborhoods and create home ownership opportunities through Habitat for Humanity.

Building communities is a partnership – it takes community partners, the Bank and our employees to make an impact. Our corporate citizenship is reflected in our core values, and, we are committed to helping make our communities great places to live, work and play.

Our Commitment to Affordable Housing

Through good times and bad, our members continue to be the back bone of the communities they serve. There is no better example of this than their commitment to providing affordable housing solutions.

Since the inception of the Affordable Housing Program in 1990, we have awarded more than $700 million through our down payment and competitive programs. In turn, our members and housing partners have helped create homes for more than 120,000 families in need.

None of this would be possible without you. No matter your role at the Bank, the work you do each and every day allows us to give back 10 percent of our net income annually through AHP. This money funnels back through our members and is reinvested into their communities.
