CLARKE COUNTY FAIR RECEIVES
$2,500 ON BEHALF OF COMMITED
VOLUNTEER
DES MOINES, IA – Volunteers play a
major roll in the operation and
success of the Clarke County Fair.
Dara Queck, a Clarke County Fair
volunteer, recently received the
Federal Home Loan Bank of Des
Moines’ 2006 Ruth Griggs Wallace
(RGW) Award. Ms Queck is a Home Loan
Bank employee and received the award
for her dedication, leadership and
commitment to her community.
“It’s volunteers, like Dara, that
make the fair run smoothly,”
commented Lesley Dorland, Clarke
County Fair dog obedience project
leader. “Even if Dara isn't involved
in a particular activity, you can
ask her for help and she is more
than willing to give it. Dara and
her family are involved in all
aspects of the fair and are always
willing to learn something new if it
means they can lend a hand. We are
grateful to Dara and the Home Loan
Bank for what they have given to
us,” commented Dorland.
The Clarke County Fair received a
$2,500 donation on behalf of Ms.
Queck and the Bank’s RGW Award. The
dog obedience club plans to use the
money to help fund a new building
for the over 40 children and dogs
that are enrolled in dog obedience
classes. This is a rapidly growing
club which has outgrown its current
space in town. The new facility will
be a great addition to the Clarke
County fairgrounds.
The Home Loan Bank provides money to
member financial institutions to
help supply loans for housing and
community investment that build
neighborhoods and strengthen
communities in Iowa, Minnesota,
Missouri, North Dakota and South
Dakota. Ruth Griggs Wallace worked
at the Bank for over 30 years,
providing tremendous leadership for
the Bank and its commitment to
community involvement. After Ms.
Wallace retired in December 1999,
the Bank’s board of directors
established the RGW Award. The award
is presented annually to a bank
employee who embodies Ruth’s spirit
of volunteerism through leadership
and dedication.
