Diversity and Inclusion
In our minds, diversity and inclusion just makes sense. We know that when we combine our unique and different perspectives and backgrounds, great things happen. At FHLB Des Moines, we believe employees’ various cultures, thoughts, ideas and solutions deepen our insights and ultimately help us serve our members, employees and community well. That’s why we focus on:
Creating products and services that work for our diverse members.
The Bank’s origins are rooted in our ability to strengthen communities across our 13-state district. We offer products and services to help our financial institutions and their communities thrive.
Making it easier to connect with us.
We are committed to making our website and workplace accessible for persons with disabilities. The Bank adheres to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) as a standard for providing web-based content. And, we partner with area organizations to hire diverse talent from all walks of life.
Building a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Because we believe diversity and inclusion are so important to our future success, we strive to fill current job openings with the best talent from all backgrounds. We also provide diversity and inclusion education and training and encourage employees to participate in community events.
Promoting an inclusive community spirit.
FHLB Des Moines supports a variety of events that celebrate diversity. Among these are the Iowa Asian Alliance’s CelebrAsian event, Latino Heritage Festival, Pride Festival and the Greater Des Moines Partnerships’ Multicultural Reception. We also partner with North High School to provide local youth with valuable career and professional development opportunities. We’re also working to improve the representation of minorities and women in financial services through our Des Moines Talent for the Future initiative.
Supporting minority-owned businesses.
Whenever possible, we engage minority, women and disabled-owned suppliers and vendors who can support our long-term objectives and add value to our business. To learn more, please visit our Supplier Diversity page.
