
Richard Swanson has been President and CEO since June 2006. Dick joined the Bank following a career in bank management, corporate and financial law practice, and public service based in Seattle, Washington.
From 2004-2006, he advised companies in the areas corporate governance and finance, banking law, and SEC regulation as a principal of the law firm of Hillis, Clark, Martin & Peterson. From 1990-2003, Dick was CEO and a director of HomeStreet Bank. He also served the FHLBank of Seattle as a member director from 1998-2003 and as vice chair from 2002 to 2003.
Throughout his career, Dick has been a director of public and private companies, as well as nonprofit organizations and industry associations. He is recognized as a Board Leadership Fellow by the National Association of Corporate Directors, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the FHLBanks’ Office of Finance and, by appointment of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, as director and vice chair of the Resolution Funding Corporation. Dick received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, was a Marshall Scholar at Cambridge University and earned his law degree from Stanford Law School.
